Diving into deep Surrender a Transformational Journey

What is Inner Islam?

“Inner Islam”, as the name suggests is about surrendering to and becoming an expression of the pure and loving wisdom that resides within us all.

This is as true for our inner being as it is for our outer actions as a living and transformative worship.

It involves turning our attention, our sincere, concentrated and reflective focus inwards. It is about re-establishing a more clear and pure connection to the heart, beyond the learned, controlling dominance of a fear-based, conditioned mind. Removing or dissolving the walls we have built around our heart opens a gateway to the soul, to The Source of all the abundant fruits it contains.

Inner Islam is a deep transformational journey towards finding the unshakeable inner peace that comes from surrendering to and directing one’s life from Truth in every moment.

Most of our lives we are taught to focus on the outer.

We tend to look to others for validation, acknowledgement, praise, support, safety, nourishment, guidance and more. This is may be ok when we are children since we are not in a position to be able to guarantee our own safety or to provide for our basic needs, for example. However as we are growing up, our inner developmental needs, our need to nurture the heart connection can, as a result, often be ignored, pushed to one side or devalued.

At school and within society in general we are mostly taught to use our mind faculties, such as logic, analysis or memorising. We are often directed to memorise things without even understanding their meaning. We are taught to be obedient and not to question authority. There isn’t much space given to learning how to connect inwardly, to understand deeper meanings, to value and embrace oneself and others with love and compassion.

We are generally not shown how to connect to our inner strengths, peace and joy. We are not invited to experience and become aware of the nourishment and well-being that comes from practising such things as giving, gratitude and appreciation.

We are not encouraged to know that to question is ok, or to value an enquiring mind, to trust our own inner wisdom and knowing. The emphasis is on conformity to achievement, a competitive ethos and the excellence of regurgitating what is already known.

We are afraid to just ‘be’. It is safer to ‘do’.

Our focus becomes geared towards outer appearances, getting our value from the outside, ‘doing’ rather than ‘being’. We purposefully adapt our behaviour to avoid rejection and criticism. We learn to hide our vulnerability and not to stand out from the crowd, to hide in our comfort zone. We internalise some of this for our own survival to ensure we get approval, something that seems so vital to our sense of self-worth and well-being, our importance as a human being.

Inner Islam is about addressing this imbalance.

It is about going deeper and learning how to get back in touch with our essential nature, our true nature … one of love, joy, peace, harmony and abundance. We can love ourselves and others unconditionally from the inside out and appreciate ourselves and everyone else just for who we are without anyone needing to ‘earn’ our appreciation, or requiring anyone to change.

The movement from fear-based to love-based living

Our deep passion and focus is to show you how to connect to the deeper meaning of life and how we can come together in a welcoming and nurturing embrace of cooperation, harmony, nurturing and allowing.

There is no compulsion in Islam, simply a loving invitation to connect with the Love and True Guidance that is already contained within our Fitrah, the nature bestowed upon us by God when it was written for us to come into this world.

For those who are ready to take the plunge, to  dive deeper into themselves and to let go of everything that gets in the way of living as an active worship of and deep surrender to God, we at “Inner Islam” are dedicated to supporting you on that journey, through regular talks, workshops, seminars, blogging, videos, 1to1 counselling and more
